Save A Seat
03:05
|
|||
Come on man these are the good old days
Better live 'em 'for your life's all through
It's the strangest of things how we can focus on the ways
& how to frown 'em when we got no blues
Better crown him he's the king
Got a voice and he can sing
But he's learning it like you and me
Slowly and deliberate
No need to deliberate
We'll be alright in time you'll see
You better save a seat for me
Go on girl grin & get 'em while you can
Cuz they got a lot in store for you
They'll make you think you need a bit of it
Make up and a stick of lip
But make believe is all that you do
Why dont you give it a break? Give it away?
Just give it some time and YOU'LL show you
Exactly what your mind would choose
Cuz there's a beauty in your eyes
And I just love it when it rise
It help me realize the things I been through
I'm gonna save a seat for you
& Everybody's waitin on a garden view
Of the future on the plane
I've been in the dungeon in a cardboard box
But the sun still looks the same
People talkin' to me like I lost my mind
But I'm still so glad they came
& Until the day I go, I grit my teeth so it can show
That we're smilin through the pain
We're smilin through...

Mr. Good
04:27
|
|||
Lemme tell you bout a man I met
On the corner of brown and Lafollette
Those who know they know where to go
And they never stopped dancin when the rhythm got slow
He came to me, I was 11 years old
Sittin by the back door feelin odd and alone
Jimmy handed him a guitar, he played us a song,
Handed it back and fell head-first into the snow
Mr. Good
You are the last of a dying breed
Somewhere through the city streets of Haight and Ashbury
Your songs still ring
From all those years before you hopped upon those trains
And thanks to you
2nd Avenue is never gonna look the same
Oh Mr. Good...
Baptised in Stroh's sharin drunk wisdoms
About the days of trains, hoboin and how he missed 'em
And even though I missed those days I still live 'em
Everytime I put a GOOD song on
He told me bout bullrider and never buy a skinned rabbit
Unless it has the tail, this is an asphalt planet
I can manage if I learn not to burn when I play with fire
And roll my blues away when the flames get higher
So I dedicate this song to a hero of mine
Here's to whatever's at the end of the line
I wrote this song, so when you go:
You wont never be gone, gone, gone
Mr. Good
You are the last of a dying breed
Somewhere through the city streets of Haight and Ashbury
Your songs still ring
From all those years before you hopped upon those trains
And thanks to you
2nd Avenue is never gonna look the same
Oh Mr. Good...
To all the friends that we've lost and the ones that we love
Barfronts and tombstones got me all folked up
I'm hoboin any way the wind is blowin now
Partyin' in the car to somewhere cool and dark
Hangin with sourmouth sprout and his tongue's hangin out
From drinkin corn liquor in the afternoon
Well I'm gonna walk it by myself
Right down this line, till heaven we waltz
And if I fall... I know that I can count on you
Mr. Good
You are the last of a dying breed
Somewhere through the city streets of Haight and Ashbury
Your songs still ring
From all those years before you hopped upon those trains
And even though the trains dont run no more
The memory still remains of Mr. Good
Mr. Good...

In The Garden
04:11
|
|||
In the garden, where there's no light to see
In the garden, I will feel you on your knees
I saw her standin there, standin there all alone
Screamin for her God to come and save her
But the garden gates were closed
So she called again and again and again
Until her teary voice was ghost
And I couldnt help but look away
As the ivy overgrew her soul
In the garden, where there's no light to see
In the garden, I will feel you on your knees
Men came marching, men came marching one at a time
Over the rusted archways they would climb
Under the cresecent moon's light
They fall, they plead, demanding God should act out with speed
But there are no bargains where we're sent
Only eternity is spent
In the garden, where there's no light to see
In the garden, I will feel you on your knees

Solitude
03:43
|
|||
It used to be: I'd close my eyes,
The day would never end.
Anymore it moves too fast
And only half it makes sense.
The movie plots are watered down,
The radio's lost it's taste.
It didn't bug me yesterday
Now the feelin's been replaced.
Solitude.
I miss your company...
You're the only one who understood.
Maybe you can come and comfort me.
When the time for change has overstayed it's welcome.
I never thought my mood would dictate that which I enjoy.
I miss the sweet simplicity of when I was a boy.
It seemed like this was this and that was that and nothing more.
But now our point of views are packaged and sold at the local store.
Solitude.
I miss your company...
You're the only one who understood.
Maybe you can come and comfort me.
When the time for change has overstayed it's welcome.
It used to be: I'd close my eyes,
The day would never end.
Anymore it moves too fast
And only half it makes sense.
Solitude.
I miss your company...
You're the only one who understood.
Maybe you can come and comfort me.
When the time for change has overstayed it's welcome.

Girl Who Makes It Rain
04:40
|
|||
This song goes to the girl, Who's frown brigs down the showers,
Who's smile passes the hours, But only when she aims.
This song goes to the girl, who's sittin' in the meadow,
& cherry blossom petals, are fallin' all the same.
Standin' by the fountain, where time is never counted,
Expressions never doubted, I'm so greatful that you came.
No one can remember, Quite why they made you leave us,
I see you when I'm dreamin' - A beauty never tamed.
Girl who makes it rain, oh girl who makes it rain...
Will you ever come my way, again?
Oh your storms and your showers,
Move the stones in the towers.
My imagination's siren, is hootin' and a-cryin',
Starin' at me empty eye-did, floodin' fulla' pain.
I don't care you got no name, Cuz I'ma be your friend,
From now until the end - So when I go, rain on my grave.
Girl who makes it rain, oh girl who makes it rain...
Will you ever come my way, again?
Oh your storms and your showers,
Move the stones in the towers.
Nobody ever wants to stand by a girl who makes it rain,
No, nobody ever wants to stand by a girl who doesn't have a name.

Lemon Scented Armageddon
03:06
|
|||
The Professor's successor told me, he refused to take the job.
He didn't want the responsibility, of buildin' all those bombs.
He says it wasn't about Sadaam, but before he could tell me the truth...
The sniper took him out from on the roof.
Sterilizin' needles for the lethal injection.
Fresh outta' school but we never learned our lesson.
Why is the truth labeled with 'viewer discretion'?
It's a lemon-scented armageddon.
Pepsi-Cola soldiers strapped, ready for war.
Screamin', "Down with the Coca-Cola overlords!"
You can getcha' high just by huffin' on some pine-sol.
Causin' forest fires, never knowin' what the pines saw.
Double standards everytime we find an answer.
It makes you cool, but it also causes cancer.
She's not a whore, nahh... She's just a dancer.
Help me! Help me!... Why won't you answer?
They're comin' through this city, layin' asphalt.
But who's to blame? It's eenie-meenie-miney-mo's fault.
A dollar-worth of wood; a thousand-dollar les paul.
I'm going crazy, bording dock's last call!
The Professor's successor told me, he refused to take the job.
He didn't want the responsibility, of buildin' all those bombs.
He says it wasn't about Sadaam, but before he could tell me the truth...
The sniper took him out from on the roof.
I never seem to have the time for everything I wanna do,
But you can be awarded time for what ya' do, in blue prison suits.
Three 'square-meals' for squeezin' off a Smith & Wesson.
It's a lemon scented armageddon.
Label this, label that, but don't get mad.
Stand in line for ya' barcode and price tag. Yeah.
'Cuz we all for sale my friend, that's that.
I'm goin' crazy and I'm never gonna look back.
Look for sanctuary in a melody, harmony.
When did free expression suddenly become a felony?
I seen a lot of 'thangs, so I can't be wrong.
And if I'm not I'll be assassinated by the end of this song.
I'll play along, I'll even play the game.
'Cuz I seen the bigger picture and they got us in the frames.
Now I see a new day, simple and plain.
Keep ya' coins, I'm just lookin' for change.
The Professor's successor told me, he refused to take the job.
He didn't want the responsibility, of buildin' all those bombs.
He says it wasn't about Sadaam, but before he could tell me the truth...
The sniper took him out from on the roof.
The sniper took him out from on the roof.
The sniper took him out from on the roof.

Ram & Turtle
02:55
|
|||
One day walkin' round up in the hills,
A ram heard a little sound.
Rollin' round some rocks he found,
A turtle turned upside down.
He said, "Mister please, it's not like me!
I swear I was attacked!
And if you turn me right side up,
I'll surely pay you back."
And no matter how hard he tries,
The ram will never break the turtle's shell.
And what goes on in the ram's hard head,
The turtle can never tell.
Yet somehow in the middle
They learn to co-exist.
Even when for no apparent reason,
The ram gets really pissed.
Betcha never thought a turtle
Would let a ram win the race.
He says he doesn't care he's beat some hares
Now he goes at his own pace.
And in return the ram has learned
From the turtle 'bout this and that.
The good thing about a turtle,
Is there's never no lookin' back.
And no matter how hard he tries,
The ram will never break the turtle's shell.
And what goes on in the ram's hard head,
The turtle can never tell.
Yet somehow in the middle
They learn to co-exist.
Even when for no apparent reason,
The ram gets really pissed.
From time to time our shelled friend finds
Trouble snappin' at his door.
Alligation alligators
Comin' up through the floor.
But he's never been caught in their jaws
As the little tortoise found:
Sometime's it's nice to have a hard-head friend around.
And no matter how hard he tries,
The ram will never break the turtle's shell.
And what goes on in the ram's hard head,
The turtle can never tell.
Yet somehow in the middle
They learn to co-exist.
Even when for no apparent reason,
The ram gets really pissed.
...Off.

The End Of Forever
05:46
|
|||
The tire swing has slowly stopped spinnin',
And the wishing well has run dry,
This could very well be the end of forever,
And I'm not sure I understand why.
The tree house has fallen to pieces,
To the ground where we used to play,
This could very well be the end of forever,
And I would have nothing to say.
The girl up the street full of smiles,
Is now a woman with a head of grey hair,
She hasn't smiled in years, through her tears it becomes clear,
She hasn't a reason left to care.
& I know, I know,
Not everything stays the same.
& I know, I know,
Not everything floats my way.
I know, I know,
I left as soon as I came.
It just never occured to me,
How quickly,
Things can change.
Holdin' eachother's hands in the doorway,
Splashin' through the puddles & rain,
Never stopped to think of what might come tomorrow,
It's funny how quickly it came.
I promise I won't let you down,
Give me the chance and you'll see,
Fair warning, though it's not in my intentions to do so,
I won't say goodbye if I leave.
The old horse can't hold up his saddle,
Yet I envy the look in his eyes,
'Cuz aside from me, he's the only one,
Who understands when somebody dies.
& I know, I know,
Not everything stays the same.
& I know, I know,
Not everything floats my way.
I know, I know,
I left as soon as I came.
It just never occured to me,
How quickly,
Things can change.
The tire swing tree has been cut down,
And the wishing well's a pile of stones,
This could very well be the end of forever,
But if you're new here, then you'd never know.
The remains of the tree house are gone now,
And the leaves are wilted with care,
This could very well be the end of forever,
And the old tree has never looked so bare.
So I went to try'n cheer up an old friend,
Her whole family was in front of her place,
That sour old woman with a head full of grey,
Left this Earth with a smile on her face.
& I know, I know,
Not everything stays the same.
& I know, I know,
Not everything floats my way.
I know, I know,
I left as soon as I came.
It just never occured to me,
How quickly,
Things can change.

Mona's Tail
03:26
|
|||
Mona, are you hiding all the answers in your head?
Are you heeding arm-length's distance from old friends?
Is this your chance to get it right again?
Mona...
You walk with me to the apple tree with the brownest eyes I've gazed
Runnin around that old brick well like you've lived here all your days
Lookin at me from inside your cage like you know just what's in store
Like you'll live this life a thousand times times five,
On top of all the lives you've lived before
Oh whoa...
Mona, are you hiding all the answers in your head?
Are you heeding arm-length's distance from old friends?
Is this your chance to get it right again?
Mona...
You always enter without a sound so certain and assured
I wonder who you were last time around when you were wondering along this earth
Hide tanned by the rain and the stains of time, yet unphased by the spinning hands
Of the clock marking numbers, stating rise and slumbers
That descend upon the mortal man
Oh whoa...
Mona, are you hiding all the answers in your head?
Are you heeding arm-length's distance from old friends?
Is this your chance to get it right again?
Mona...
